That’s not a luxury gadget as it may seem, there is no question of my opinion in this regard, that’s how Intel presented it; a reader for visually impaired and dyslexic people. Powered by Atom inside, it combines “Text to speech engine” and a camera. So, with the reader, you can take a picture of a written text, convert it to audio and listen while viewing the text. The audio can be exported as well.

In the video demonstration (given at the end of the text), it demonstrates reading of the book “Alice in Wonderland” but the speech quality is just like the text to speech software on windows, so you can expect a robotic voice with no fluency. I was shocked when I saw the price tag, it costs $1499; huge difference with the cost of a Sony Reader Touch Edition which comes with a price of about $280. One can make reading a fun with this gadget but we expected a lower price for it.

Check the following demonstration of the Intel reader.
