Apple Hinting the Presence of Broadcom BCM4329 Chip and Capability of 802.11N WiFi in Next Generation of iPhone

Probably iPhone marketing team is good at keeping next generation of iPhone a secret but probably the people in Human Resource Department do not care much about the privacy and secrecy as far as they are doing their job. This was revealed when a job posting was put up on Apples official website, looking for a software engineer for iPhone WiFi team. Is this a hint that we may find 802.1 1n WiFi in the coming iPhone? Some of the pre requisites for applying for the said job are:

  • Implementation of 802.11 a/b/g/n & related specifications.
  • 802.11i/802.1x Security protocols
  • Good understanding of wireless RF technologies & co-existence issues of 802.11 PHYs with other Wireless interfaces like Bluetooth.

Wireless Storage device for IPHONE

AirStash

Image: AirStash to expand storage wirelessly

When I first bought IPHONE with an 8GB of storage, I thought this much storage would be enough for me to last life time but I never knew how much data I would have in future to store in a phone. Secondly, I am not a big fan of cleaning old data to make some space for a new one;after all we are used to ‘unlimited email storage’ kind of a thing, right?

Web 2.0 Suicide Machine, Facebook bans the application!

Web2.0_Suicide_Machine

Most of us have heard the term ‘Social Suicide’ which is intended to isolate oneself from the social scene or a social circle but very few must have heard about a Web 2.0 Social Suicide which intends to make one disappear from the Web forever, in other words committing a web suicide. There is an application on SuicideMachine.org which allows anyone to kill all the social networking profiles just with a click.

Of course the idea is not very pleasant but here is how they are preaching the Web Suicide:

Liberate your newbie friends with a Web2.0 suicide! This machine lets you delete all your energy sucking social-networking profiles, kill your fake virtual friends, and completely do away with your Web2.0 alterego. The machine is just a metaphor for the website which moddr_ is hosting; the belly of the beast where the web2.0 suicide scripts are maintained. Our service currently runs with Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and LinkedIn! Commit NOW!

Use ZOMM and never Leave Your Phone Behind

I don’t like my phone ringing in public, because of the nature of my job my phone hours are too may and because most of the time my phone is in my hand I misplace it, resulting in a search operation. Because it is mostly on silent mode I face a lot of difficulty looking for it, thus missing a lot of incoming calls.

My problem will be resolved by ZOMM, which acts like a leash for my phone. It is a puck sized device that connects to the phone via Bluetooth. Now even if I forget my phone in my laptop bag or in my table drawer, it will connect the incoming calls. It works as a speaker phone.

Espresso Lovers: Make a coffee wherever you want it to be!

Espresso

Image: Cup of Espresso

I remember the first time when I went to the coffee shop. Straight in front of the menu board, I stood totally confused, thinking what to choose. Americano, Cappuccino, Cafe Macchiato, Cafe Breva, Single Shot, Double Shot and the rest I don’t remember. It looked like the whole restaurant gazed at me saying ‘what a shame! don’t know about a coffee?’. However, after a lot of blank thoughts, I choose “Double Shot” and that was my mistake I guess. That first visit pasted a yokelish image in my mind for people who love coffee shops.

After that incident, I decided to learn the types of a coffee so that next visit won’t be a night mare. So, guess what I started with the basics i-e Espresso. Now, as I have learnt it, so here is it’s definition (from WordWeb): “Strong black coffee brewed by forcing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans”. That’s where one can start from.

Guns and bullets to store your data

Those of you who are real fan of guns will surely love to store their computer data into weapon like USBs. We have two gadgets if you like this stuff; one is a little machine gun USB and other is its ammunition which is also a USB in a disguise.

Weapon_USBs

Image: (Up) Machine Gun USB, (Down) Bullet USB

To me, machine gun looks so weird and it’s not comfortable to carry with you. Secondly, except the grip portion, nothing is useful. From snaps I guessed the bullet would have a less weight but I found it vice versa. The machine gun weighs 30g while the bullet weighs 70g, more than twice the weight of the gun.

Now to the data storing facts, baby machine gun stores 4GB of data, not so bad. Bullet USB has given us a set back as it’ll store only 2GB. It’s a well said couple as the features suggest with respect to weight and data storage capacity. Alone, none of them seems to be a perfect gadget.

Backup and Restore Cydia Applications using PkgBackup

What would you do if you have to install a new firmware on your iPhone and have a lot of Cydia packages installed as well? One option is to delete everything and then reinstall if you remember them. The other option, the much better one is PkgBackup. It too is a Cydia application which allows you to backup and restore all your Cydia packages in your iPhone. Other options of PkgBackup are that you can even share, exchange or send your packages list to other on facebook.

Another available option to backup your data is to use AptBackup but it really does not work that well, furthermore it has not been updated for a long time so it does not work well with the new operating system. Whereas PkgBackup is easier to use and it updated. It is available on Cydia Store for $1.99.

Defog your car windows, Quickly

A few days back I was visiting a friend so had to park the car outside in the lot. When I came back in the car I could not see a thing in front of me because of fog on the windscreen. I had to switch on the defogger and still wait for minutes before I could make what was in front of me.

Fog

Fogging is basically because of the temperature difference inside and outside the window. And moisture plays a role as well. Outside it is cold and dry in winters where as inside the car it is the body temperature that warms the temperature and the moisture comes from our breath. So what happens is, the moisture inside the window condenses forming a layer through which it is impossible to see. One of the fastest ways to stop it is to turn on the defogger and not the heating, opening the windows a bit would add to the cause.
