Samsung introduced See through Notebook Display – AMOLED
In January a manufacturer demonstrated a 14” transparent AMOLED display. Amongst the participants contending this race is Samsung and it is expect to see a Samsung notebook with a transparent display. The AMOLED concept Notebook this is the world’s first device of this kind, which supports 3D images and it is capable to possessing Full-HD resolution. It is expected to hit the shelves in 2010.
What exactly is AMOLED Technology?
AMOLED stands for Active Matrix OLED. They have been around for sometime and have been in use. They have been used in media players, cell phones etc. Its contrast ratio is almost 20 times higher than LVD.
Some of the positives and negatives of AMOLED are:
Advantages:
- They are thin and light weight
- Consume less energy
- Low Cost
- Better image quality
- They are rollable, easy storage when not in use
Dis-Advantages:
- Not as bright as LCD display in direct sunlight
- They are prone to material degradation.
