Well, this little gadget called Doulex Led pocket light can save you bucks in this situation. That can act as an emergency light for you as well. Of course, you cannot compare it with a torch but still its glow would be useful in many situations.
The gadget is about the size of a credit card (6.8 X 5.3 cm) and utilizes a small battery of 3V (CR1216). It can be turned on by flipping the bulb out of the card which contains a single LED.
