Previously with Android 2.0 or less, to restore Nexus One, one had to go through a recovery process which was time taking and frustratingly technical. But with Android 2.1 which is the latest OS running on Nexus One, restoring it to factory settings has become very easy.

To reset Nexus One to factory defaults, just go to Settings –> Privacy –> Factory Data Reset.

A warning will be given about what this option will do. Let’s go through the warning as a whole:

This will erase all data from your phone including:

Your Google account

System and application data and settings

Downloaded applications

It will not erase:

Current system software and bundled applications

SD card files, such as music or photos

You can see in the last that with this option, the data in SD card will not be destroyed. So you can transfer all your important data to your SD card and press Reset phone. The phone will be reset to factory defaults.

A few days back I was visiting a friend so had to park the car outside in the lot. When I came back in the car I could not see a thing in front of me because of fog on the windscreen. I had to switch on the defogger and still wait for minutes before I could make what was in front of me.

Fogging is basically because of the temperature difference inside and outside the window. And moisture plays a role as well. Outside it is cold and dry in winters where as inside the car it is the body temperature that warms the temperature and the moisture comes from our breath. So what happens is, the moisture inside the window condenses forming a layer through which it is impossible to see. One of the fastest ways to stop it is to turn on the defogger and not the heating, opening the windows a bit would add to the cause.

The trick is to keep the car free of moisture, once again there are options. Either use a heater or open the windows and let the freezing wind freeze you. Obviously switching on the heater is a better option but with it do remember to keep the recirculation feature off. It is of good use during summers to give air conditioning some support but it hardly matters in winters because the engine itself has enough heat to balance things off.

While talking of fog problem it can also show its presence during summers, more moisture on the outer side of the window and this time the dry side is the inside, mostly because of air conditioning. This can be easily overcome by switching off the air conditioning switching on the heat real low so that the temperatures become even so that moisture does not condense.

Now is the time for some tips:

Keep your windows clean. Clean windows have less chance to have condensed fog stick to it. When the window is dirty the moisture condenses and becomes part of the dirt making fog which sticks to the window thus making it difficult to remove. Whereas if the window is clean it doesn’t have anything to hold on to.

Last winters, while I was traveling back from work, late at night. I saw I boy cleaning windows with spray of coke on the windshield. Upon inquiry he told that doing so reduces fogging to minimal. Next day I happened to go to car wash so I used the boys’ formula to have the windshield cleaned with coke spray. Surprisingly it worked. It worked for me using this method is on to the readers on interest and www.techskipper.com will not be responsible for any sort of consequences, if any.
