Step 3: Play the song and note the start and stop times of the portion of the song which you want to take as a ring tone. In my case, I would like to make a ring tone from start point of 1:00 and end time of 1:40 i-e 40 seconds long ring tone.

Step 4: Right click the song and select “Get Info”

Step 5: Click the “Options” tab and set the start and stop time which you noted in step 3. Click ok.

Step 6: Right click the song again and this time select “Create AAC Version”. Wait some time while iTunes make a copy of the song from the given start and stop timings.

Step 7: Right click the ringtone and delete it. After that, click on the “Keep Files” button.

Step 8: Search the file, it is normally in the folder Music>>iTunes>>iTunes Music and under the band name of the song, the music file will have an extension of .m4a. Change it to .m4r. Double click the ringtone file and iTunes software will automatically add it to the ringtones folder.
